What is Western Canadian Blend crude?

WCB (Western Canadian Blend) is an aggregate of heavy sour crude production (21 API gravity, 3.0 wt% sulphur) in the Wainright and Hardisty regions. Unique to WCB is an agreement by the gathering systems to not use field butanes as diluent. Though there are many connections to WCB, the principal contacts would include Cenovus Energy, Husky Energy Canada, and Talisman Energy.

Density, MCR, and TAN were elevated in the September sample of Western Canadian Blend. These shifts in quality are typical for this stream due to seasonality. Simulated distillation results indicated less naphtha and more residue.
