What is Seal Heavy crude?

Seal Heavy is produced by Shell Energy Canada from the Peace River oilsands formation by conventional (cold flow, CHOPS) production methods. Seal Heavy is a heavy crude oil and bitumen blended with diluent to meet pipeline specifications for density and viscosity. Seal Heavy is delivered to Edmonton on the Rainbow Pipeline system.
