What is Kearl Lake crude?
Kearl Lake is a joint operation between Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil that produces heavy, high sulphur bitumen about 70 km North of Fort McMurray. The bitumen is mined by shovel and truck and then undergoes onsite paraffinic froth treatment. The bitumen is then diluted and shipped to market.
